  Architecture | Ancient and Modern World! Architecture is a science itself. Although, it does not fall under the category of sciences, it can still be called as “Architectural Science”. Architecture is something that cannot be learnt or memorized You have to feel it to understand the essence of design. Ancient Egyptian artists used a grid to determine the proportions of the human body. Ancient Greeks travelling in Egypt adopted this form of sculpture and modified it to appear more natural. The Greeks also used the Egyptian grid. The Greek adaptation of Egyptian statuary and proportion has influenced classical and modern art.

  Most architects are conditioned to prefer 'modern' (e.g., Corbusier-onwards) architecture - it's in the education system at most schools. However, one of the better experiences I remember having was going on a tour through some decidedly 'ancient' architecture and people pointing out how it could be successful as architecture through 'modernist' eyes. He sought to make international modern architecture acceptable by investing it with a historical legitimacy, rather as Pevsner claimed Voysey as a precursor of the Bauhaus. But Rowe came to regret his support of Modernism so that, in , he confessed that he found looking at Renaissance buildings 'gratifying and refreshing, as the spectacle.
